"Optical Coherence Tomography: Theoretical and Practical Limitations of Minimally-Invasive Imaging of Biological Tissues," a two-year project supported by the Dutch Governmental Research Foundation of Fundamental Research on Matter (FOM) and Philips Research, participant (August 2000 - August 2002).
 
“Computer Controlled System Design to Investigate Optical and Thermal Aspects of Laser-Tissue Interactions,” a three-year, US$ 120.000 project supported in part by the Turkish State Planning Organization (Devlet Planlama Teşkilatı, DPT) and in part by İTÜ Research Activities Secretariat (Araştırma Etkinlikleri Sekreteryası, AES)- principal investigator (January 1997 – January 2000).
“Investigation of Lesion Formation Techniques in Brain Tissue using an Er:YAG Laser,” a two-year project supported by Mitra Inc./Teknofil Ltd. and BÜ, with participants from Bogaziçi University (BÜ) and İTÜ along with Mitra Inc./Teknofil Ltd. (M/T) - principal investigator (November 1996 - November 1998).

“Ablation of Cardiac Tissue by the Er:YAG Laser,” a one-year project supported by M/T and BÜ, with participants from BÜ, and İTÜ along with M/T - principal investigator (July 1996 - July 1997).

“Coagulation of Cardiac Tissue by the Nd:YAG Laser,” a one-year project supported by Koç University (KÜ) and BÜ, with participants from KÜ, BÜ and İTÜ along with M/T - principal investigator (March 1996 - March 1997).
Short Term Research Projects

"Investigation of temperature dependence of tissue physical properties using spectral domain OCT techniques," a short term project fully supported by a 2219 research grant from TUBITAK-BIDEB, principal investigator (September-December 2007).

"Effect of Albumin Based Solder on Feedback Controlled Photothermal Skin Welding" and "Rate Process Kinetics of Photothermally Coagulated Egg White", two short-term projects supported in part by Applied Physics Program, Faculty of Exact Sciences, Tel Aviv University, Ramat Aviv, and in part by the Cultural and Scientific Agreements Division of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jerusalem, participant (June - August 1998).
